One deposit of £150 covers all festivals you apply for (as long as the required deposit for said event is not higher than £150 - if so you will need to pay the balance to confirm your place)  so once you have been accepted to a festival and paid a deposit any further festival you apply for and get accepted to will be automatically confirmed. So once you have paid a deposit please make sure you definitely want to work at any additional festivals before you apply to them.

If you would like to change role after you have a confirmed position please call us on 0203 058 1647.

Our applications work on a first come first served basis and they fill up fast so be quick so that you do not miss out!! Often festivals set a deadline well in advance of the festival for us to fill positions by. If you're unsure or waiting to get paid feel free to give us a call and we'll be honest with you about how many spaces we have left, the best advice though is to pay your deposit as early as possible.

No, festival places are not confirmed until a deposit has been paid i.e. if you are accepted to a festival position but DO NOT pay your deposit nothing is confirmed and if that role fills up you will lose your place.

Unfortunately not, you will need to apply to Seed Staff and organise the cancelation of your original ticket with the festival directly.

This will depend on the role you apply to. Please log in to PAAM to see the full details of each event. These details will also be confirmed via email about 2 weeks before the event (where possible).

Unfortunately Seed Staff cannot cover travel expenses to and from festivals unless this is advertised as an extra for a specific event. Please visit our Facebook page where we create groups per festival where you can meet other volunteers and organise lift shares. Alternatively please book train travel in advance to keep the cost down.

We try our hardest to put friends working together.

Once you have applied AND paid your deposit please email us at mail@seedstaff.com with your name, festival role and the names of your friends you would like to be rota'd with.

Please note we will do our best but can’t make promises.

The PNC process is as follows...

A list of all staff and volunteers is passed to the relevant county’s police force four to eight weeks before the festival.

The police perform a check against each name on the list.

We are informed by the police if anyone on the list fails the PNC check thus cannot work at the festival.

We are not given a reason by the police for any PNC failure.

Failures can be resolved – just because someone isn't passed straight away doesn't necessarily mean they cannot work at a festival. Sometimes the problem is merely old information e.g. an administrative issue the police have been trying to tie-up.

If you are concerned about the PNC check you can apply to Disclosure Scotland for a basic certificate. Only 'live' convictions, as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, are disclosed under the basic certificate. There are three separate conviction databases in the UK due to the three separate legal systems (Northern Ireland, Scotland and England & Wales). Minor driving convictions (e.g. speeding) are not normally recorded on these systems but are recorded at the DVLA.

If you would like your full conviction history you should apply to your local Force.

If you have lived in more than one area e.g. Northern Ireland and/or Scotland and/or England & Wales - you should apply to each Force. This type of request is done under the Data Protection Act 1998 and is called a 'subject access request'.

You can find Disclosure Scotland here: www.disclosurescotland.co.uk

The Festival roles

On the Seed Staff  website please click on 'members sign in' to log in to PAAM to see the individual festivals and the job descriptions within it for full details on what each role involves.  In the meantime here is a general idea of what is involved in our main roles….

Pre Festival Roles

Crew This is an extremely physical role that involves helping the festival crew with the build of the festival. This could be anything from putting up fencing, stages, bars and marquees to banging scaffold into the ground. A chance to flex your muscles, very rewarding and a great team experience!

All staff in this role will need to bring their own water proof steel toe cap boots and wet gear. Any other clothing such as hi vis / protective goggles / hard hats or gloves will be provided by Seed Staff.

Crew Runners This role will involve assisting the build crew with general errands that need running during the build. This could be anything from running equipment to and from the depot to running off site to buy supplies for the decor crew.

All staff in this role must have a van/jeep/large car and be willing to use it for the role. (All petrol will be reimbursed when receipts are produced)

Decor Team This is a great opportunity to get involved in the creative build of the festival. This role will appeal to anyone creative who enjoys making, painting, creating and putting your personal touch on the festival. It’s really just about getting stuck in and making sure that the festival is looking and feeling great and that everything is ready for the gates to open!  A real team experience.

Staff in this position will be working around 9 hours for 4 days before the festival but do not have to work during the festival!

Production Office Support (Pre event or during event) If you are interested in the events business here is a good way to check things out. You will be assisting the event production and festival team in the onsite office with anything from putting 20,000 programmes together, to nipping off to the shops to collect riders for artists.

Pre event: Those working on pre event production office support will gain a great idea of the last minute actions that go into opening a festival and will be able to enjoy the festival, work free.

During event: Those working during the festival will see the hectic goings on behind the scenes of a festival.

Roles available during the event:

Stewards The Stewards are the eyes and ears of any festival. Through supporting the festival’s security team stewards are vital to the wellbeing of the ticket holders and the smooth running of any event.

Every event you work at will present different roles within the role of being a steward. This could range from wrist band checking, offering assistance and giving directions, to watching out for hazards and fires, and reporting any emergency to the security team.

This work is very rewarding, a great way to meet new people and most of all see what goes on behind the scenes of a music festival.

Transport assistants Staff in this role will assist the festival’s transport company on the arrival days and departure day with getting everyone on to site from the train station and coaches and getting all cars parked as quickly as possible. Then back off the site on departure day.

You need to be friendly and helpful as you are often the first person that a ticket holder will meet after a long journey.

Accreditation Assistants  As an accreditation assistant you will be responsible for managing who gets on to site. This is a high energy role. You need to be friendly and helpful as you are often the first person that a ticket holder will meet at the same time enforcing the license and ticketing policy.

Info point assistant The Festival Info point is the hub of the festival where festival goers can sign up to activities, ask for directions or generally come in for a chat. We need staff to help run the info point. This role will suit confident and friendly people who want to chat with festival goers and generally be helpful!

Programme sellers The name says it all.... programme sellers sell festival programmes either from the info point or roaming the festival. The main benefit of this role is that you can earn commission on every programme you sell – last year staff were finishing shifts and heading off to the bar with around £60 a day!

Artist Liaison By far the most sought after role at the festival. Staff in this role will work helping the artist liaison team run the dressing room and artist hospitality area. This could be anything from running off site to pick up artist riders to standing at the side of a stage hanging on to the headliners face towel.

All staff in this role must have a car and be willing to use it in the role (All petrol will be reimbursed when receipts are produced).

Venue assistants Venue assistants will be allocated to one of the festival venues and work under a venue manager. Duties could involve assisting with technical changeovers and looking after artists while they’re in the venue to drumming up a crowd at the quieter moments

Press Office Assistants This role involves assisting the PR team. The main part of this role will be manning the press office; signing press in, handing out press passes, distributing press releases and helping to create and display the artist interview schedules. There will also be a chance to help with artist interviews.

This role will suit someone who has a genuine interest in going into the world of PR and wishes to gain some great PR experience. It is a high energy role and it is vital that the staffs in this role are willing to work long and hard hours and become the face of the festival in the eyes of the press.

Post Event Roles:

Load Down Staff Restoring the site to its natural beauty! Cleaning up, putting things back in the right place and pulling down the fencing. Staff in this role will be able to enjoy the whole festival, work free, and begin work following the festival.  You will be working a maximum of 3 days after the festival but we aim to have everyone home and in bed two days afterwards. So you get to enjoy the whole festival work free, you'll be fed and quenched throughout and no doubt enjoy some post festival parties ;)

This is a very physical role and a real team experience. You’ll get great satisfaction when it’s all done!

All staff in this role will need to bring their own water proof steel toe cap boots and wet gear. Any other clothing such as hi vis / protective goggles / hard hats or gloves will be provided by Seed Staff.

Load Down Runners This role will involve assisting the crew with general errands that need running during the load down. This could be anything from running equipment back to the depot to nipping out to buy everyone lunch.

Staff in this role will be able to enjoy the whole festival, work free.  You will be working a maximum of 3 days after the festival but we aim to have everyone home and in bed two days afterwards.

As a paid member of staff you will have to work more hours.

Shifts are allocated at the onsite briefing. We try to make the shift allocation as fair as possible to allow you some time to enjoy the festival.

If you can find another volunteer/steward that is willing to swap shifts with you then that is fine. However, you must make sure you check with us first BEFORE you do this and with plenty of notice. If you fail to do this you may risk losing your deposit. We cannot guarantee that all shift changes can be accommodated.

If you have a specific request about a shift pattern or working with someone do email us in advance and we can try and accommodate when designing the rota on a best efforts basis.

This will vary by festival and role. Please log in to PAAM for exact details and check the event pages.

Due to Seeds needing to work within the guest area some Seeds do have access to backstage areas. Those volunteers that do not need to access backstage as a part of a role will not be allocated backstage passes. Money

Seed Staff offers a mixture of paid and unpaid positions. Please check the individual role descriptions on the application page with PAAM for this information.

The rate of pay differs for each event and will be specified when you accept each contract with us. All wages are above minimum wage within each age bracket. The government sets a new minimum wage each October so check yearly to know your rights.

It all depends on the event but you will be fully advised on method of payment, set days to expect your wages and rate of payment before accepting a contract.

Please remember we cannot be held responsible for the banks taking 2-3 day to clear a payment or your post being delayed.

Yes, you need to pay a deposit to secure your Voluntary position(s). We have to take deposits to ensure that everyone attends their shift. You will be given a free wristband and so it is important we ensure you do not disappear off to be never seen again. As long as you fulfill your role your deposit will be returned shortly after the last festival you work with us.

Most of our Festivals require a £150 deposit to secure your place at the festival. Some smaller events might take a smaller deposit of £100 and larger events taking deposits of £175- £200. This is to reflect the cost of a ticket at these events. Please see individual event details for deposit details.

If you apply for an event that requires the higher deposit and an event that requires the lower deposit you will need to pay the higher deposit amount to secure both places. If you just apply for an event that requires a lower deposit you will only need to pay this lower amount.

NO DEPOSIT – NO JOB (sorry!)

Your deposit needs to be paid after you have applied.

Paying a deposit confirms your position at an event. Until paid no position is confirmed and you risk losing your position.

Positions are filled on a first-come first-served basis.

We will contact you after each festival you work to enquire as to whether you would like to have your deposit refunded at that time or whether you would like to work another festival (and we will keep it until after that festival).
